OUR DOCTRINAL STATEMENT

The Foundations of Our Faith

These are the core beliefs that anchor everything we do at Shepherd of the Hills — drawn directly from the authority of Scripture.

01 - Scripture

We believe the Scriptures are God's only inspired word — infallible, inerrant, and the sole final authority for all matters of faith and conduct.

II Timothy 3:16 · I Corinthians 2:13

03 - Creation & The Fall

We believe in the creation, test, and fall of man as recorded in the first three chapters of Genesis.

Genesis 1–3

05 - Death & Resurrection

We believe Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, rose again on the third day, and personally appeared to His disciples.

I Corinthians 15:1–4 · Romans 4:25

07 - Salvation by Grace

We believe in the salvation of sinners by grace, through repentance and faith in the perfect and all-sufficient work of the cross, by which we receive remission of sins.

Ephesians 2:8–9 · Hebrews 9:12 · Romans 5:11

09 - Eternal Judgement

We believe in the reality and personality of the Devil and eternal judgment in the Lake of Fire for the Devil and his angels.

Matthew 25:41 · Revelation 20:10–15

02 - The Trinity

We believe in one God existing in Three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — distinguishable but indivisible.

Matthew 28:19 · II Corinthians 13:14 · I John 5:7

04 - The Incarnation

We believe in the pre-incarnate Lord Jesus Christ — the Savior of men from eternity past — conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary.

Luke 1:26–35 · John 1:1–18 · Isaiah 7:14; 9:6

06 - Ascension & Return

We believe in the bodily ascension of Jesus to Heaven, where He continually intercedes for His people, and His personal, literal, bodily return for His Church.

John 14:2–3 · I Thessalonians 4:13–18 · Hebrews 7:24–25

08 - Baptism

We believe in water baptism by immersion, in the name of the Eternal Godhead, in obedience to the command of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Matthew 28:19 · Acts 19:1–5

10 - Eternal Life

We believe in eternal life for all who believe, and eternal punishment for those who reject Christ.

John 5:24; 3:16 · Mark 9:42–50 · Revelation 20:10–15
